At the Future Life Expo: Future City pavilion, part of the Future Society Showcase Project, the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group presented and exhibited its vision of future sustainable mobility looking ahead to 2050 under the exhibition theme “Instinct for Mobility.” By showcasing concepts for next-generation mobility that bring together technologies across land, sea, and air—such as CORLEO, a hydrogen-powered, four-legged personal mobility vehicle, and the ALICE SYSTEM, a public transportation system that seamlessly enables users to automatically transfer between different modes of mobility to reach their destinations—we offered visitors a glimpse into the future of movement. Through full-scale mobility models that could be seen, touched, and even ridden, visitors were able to experience firsthand the excitement and possibilities of mobility. The concept models presented under the theme “Instinct for Mobility” were not only an exploration of new forms of movement, but also an invitation to reconsider how mobility will shape our lives in the future. This exhibition provided a wonderful opportunity to share with many people the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group's commitment to realizing a sustainable society, as well as our vision of a future in which technology connects people and society. As part of the Cabinet Secretariat–led “EXPO School Caravan,” the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group conducted outreach classes for more than 1,000 elementary and junior high school students nationwide, encouraging them to envision future mobility that stimulates the instinct to move. Focusing on questions such as who uses mobility, for what purpose, and with what feelings, students infused their visions of future society into their ideas for mobility. Here, we introduce a selection of designs from the students’exciting concepts for future mobility.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group held a special campaign titled “Let's Build NEO OSAKA, a Town Where the ALICE SYSTEM Thrives, in Minecraft,” recreating a future city where the “ALICE SYSTEM,” showcased at the Expo, plays an active role within the world of Minecraft: Education Edition. Participants were invited to express a dreamlike future city that leverages the ALICE SYSTEM's unique feature: cabins that can dock with various types of mobility, enabling seamless, comfortable travel without the need to transfer. Here, we introduce five award-winning works that were also screened at the Expo venue.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group created the mural “NORITAINA!” at the “Resilience Session: The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and the Future Kobe Expo,” inviting participants to depict future mobility they would love to ride. The large-scale mural, filled with visions of future mobility drawn freely by both children and adults, was completed with heartfelt ideas. Taking the Expo as a catalyst, it became a valuable opportunity for society as a whole to think together about the future of mobility.

The actual “CORLEO” and “ALICE SYSTEM” exhibits showcased at the Osaka–Kansai Expo have been relocated and are now on display at our corporate museum, Kawasaki World. Even if you were unable to visit the Expo venue, we warmly invite you to stop by and experience these future mobility concepts that ignite the instinct to move.

CORLEO, which has attracted worldwide attention, is aiming for adoption at the Riyadh Expo in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for 2030, while advancing development toward commercialization in 2035.
