Maintenance for the Jetfoil

The Jetfoil is powered by gas turbines as the main engine and equipped with the automatic control system (ACS) as the ship's brain. As the aero-technology like gas turbines, the ACS, hydraulic actuators for flaps and so on, are applied in various parts of the Jetfoil, the maintenance procedures are different from these of conventional high speed boats. Since KHI JPS offers maintenance classroom and on-the-job training by dispatching engineers on site, the Jetfoil operator can acquire the knowledge of maintenance works and becomes proficient in a short period of time.
Some examples for the Jetfoil maintenance works are shown below.

  1. The maintenance for gas turbines and hydraulic systems is generally needed after daily service depending on individual skills and capability.
  2. The maintenance works are carried out based on the maintenance manual and the task cards, i.e. maintenance item lists. KHI JPS engineers cooperate with the Jetfoil operators to give proper advises to the maintenance staff and to help them acquire the maintenance skill in a short periord of time.
