Kawasaki Heavy Industries is engaged in developing technology for waste-fired power plants.
We delivered a paper sludge and RPF-fired power plant in December 2002 that can incinerate 330 ton of dry paper sludge a day. This is one of the biggest incinerators in Japan. The type of boiler is a bubbling fluidized bed boiler, whose purpose is to incinerate paper sludge and generate electricity. The auxiliary fuel is RPF. After we confirmed performance against all guaranteed items, such as air pollution regulations, during a test period, this plant was commissioned and has since been operated continuously. This paper introduces the specifications and operations of not only this plant, but also other waste-fired power plants that use RDF as fuel.
