EMU Trains for the Singapore Land Transport Authority
In order to provide railway access to Changi Airport in Singapore, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) constructed the MRT Changi Airport Line and inaugurated passenger service in February 2002. 21 Type 751B Electric Multiple Unit trains (126 cars) were manufactured for operation on the Changi Airport Line and for capacity increase on the existing MRT lines. A train is composed of two three car units (giving a total of six cars), with each unit consisting of a DT-car, M1-car, and M-2 car. Among many modern technological features, the emergency detraining door is provided for safe evacuation of the passengers, and enables 1,920 passengers to evacuate from one emergency detraining door within 30 minutes.
