We have developed an advanced auto-production system for steam turbine blades oriented to a process integration concept to use minimum machine tool stations.
The system features complete one-machine-tooled production achieved by feeding long bar stock using a long bar feeder.
The system attributes are (1)long term unmanned operation, (2)continuous operation, from rough to finish machining, (3)self quality control, (4)fine finish machining on the airfoil without the requirement for hand-polishing.
The first machine tool was installed at our Kobe Works and started commercial operation in July 1998.
