The dust in the exhaust gases from marine diesel engines is just as hazardous as NOx and SOx. Kawasaki Heavy Industries,Ltd.(KHI) has been developing dust removal plant which is situated in the exhaust manifold, so it traps and incinerates the dust whenever the engine is running.
We examined the characteristics of the dust and studied the trap-incineration using a small dust removal plant.Based on the experimental results, we then manufactured a large experimental dust removal plant and evaluated its operational performance.
